AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT PLEDGES CLOSE TIES WITH NDDC TO ENHANCE RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Governor of Akwa IBOM State, Pastor Umo Eno has enjoined the new board and management of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, to remain apolitical but focus on tackling under development in Niger Delta Region.
Pastor Eno who gave the advice during a courtesy visit by NDDC board in Government House Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, expressed happiness over the steps taken by the board in seeking the contributions of state governors in the commission’s budget preparation.
The courtesy visit to the Governor of Akwa Ibom state was part of the familiarization tour of the new board and management of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, to governors of NDDC states and seek their collaboration in the quest to take development to remote areas of Niger Delta region.
Addressing the delegation, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Imo Eno who was elated over the reach out, pledged the readiness of the state government to work with NDDC and enhance development of Niger Delta region.
Governor Eno who noted that over the years politics has hampered the vision of the agency, remained hopeful that a new dawn has started in the commission.
He called on the board to involve state governments in project award to avoid duplication and abandonment.
Earlier in his presentation, Chairman Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Mr. Chiedu Ebie assured that NDDC board was willing to collaborate with Akwa Ibom State and other States in the region to facilitate development of Niger Delta region.
Mr. Ebie told the governor that the team was in the state for board and management retreat to come up with new ideas to move the agency towards the fulfillment of its mandate.
The Chairman acknowledged the efforts of governor Eno in developing the state and creating wealth through her air carrier.
Parts of the delegation were management and board members, including NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.
