NDDC RE-ASIGNS ARMY JETTY PROJECT TO ANOTHER CONTRACTOR TO FACILITATE SPEEDY COMPLETION

Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says Army Jetty Project has been re-awarded to another contractor to guarantee speedy completion of the Jetty.
Dr. Ogbuku who made this known during inspection of the facility in Warri Delta State acknowledged that the project was part of legacy projects the commission has earmarked for immediate attention.
According to the MD, the military plays significant roles in ensuring peace and security as a catalyst to development.
On his part, the General Officer Commanding, GOC, six Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Major General Jamal Abdussalam described the Jetty as very crucial to Army operations in the maritime environment.
Represented by the Commander, Forty Six Brigade Engineer, Brigadier General Eke Odoemele, the GOC explained that the jetty has capacity to accommodate one hundred troops and would serve as a Forward Operating Base for Nigerian Army.
He maintained that the base would be very useful in quick responses to distress calls in the maritime domain.
The base has an amoury, two helipads, a fuel dump, ten landing bays, parade ground among others.
