PRESIDENT TINUBU INAUGURATES MULTI-BILLION NAIRA OGBIA-NEMBE ROAD CONSTRUCTED BY NDDC IN COLLABORATION WITH SPDC

The twenty five  point seven kilometers Ogbia Nembe Road constructed by Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC  in collaboration with  an International Oil Company at the cost of about twenty five billion naira has been inaugurated. 

Performing the inauguration in Ogbia Bayelsa State, President Bola Tinubu who called on State governors of Niger Delta Region to collaborate with NDDC in project delivery, reiterated his commitment towards infrastructural development in rural communities. 

The atmosphere was that of a carnival spectacle at Ogbia Bayelsa State  during the Inauguration of twenty five point seven  kilometers Ogbia Nembe Road to link the ancient Nembe Kingdom to upland by road for the first time in history. 

Awarded in two thousand and five, about twenty years ago, the road that has  seven bridges with nine kilometers on swampy areas,  transversed through  fourteen communities. 

President Bola Tinubu who inaugurated the road said that the project was in consonance with his  vision  to take development to the hinter lands. 

Represented by the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Chief Abubakar Momoh, the President  called on National Assembly to speed up passage of twenty twenty four budget of  NDDC as it has enormous provisions for the overall development of Niger Delta region.

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri, represented by the Deputy Governor, senator Lawrence Erujakpo  expressed the willingness of the state to collaborate with NDDC to execute more projects. 

In a remark, Chaiman NDDC board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie  who emphasized the importance of continuity maintained  that the board believes in Public Private partnership.

Going down Memory Lane,  Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku explained that  he has a nulstalgic feeling about the road  adding that  many lives were lost due to boat mishaps because the communities could only be reach by water. 

The MD who  acknowledged that the project was done in partnership with SPDC promised that NDDC was willing to partner other International Oil Companies  to realize the Warri Madno road to boost oil production at the escravos. 

The MD who told the gathering that the   President has promised massive infrastructural development explained  that when they assumed office, all outstanding funds were released to the contractor to ensure that the road was delivered.

In a good will message, the Country Chair and Managing Director SPDC, Mr. Osagie Okunbo said that the road was realized through commitment to making positive impacts in the lives of the people as part of Corporate Social responsibility. 

Former NDDC MD, Chief Timi Alaibe  who called for NDDC to be taken off TSA to enable it execute projects seamlessly,  added  that the road was realized through commitment. 

Giving the project brief, the Executive Director projects NDDC, sir Victor Antai who maintained  that the project was completed according to specifications  noted that the road has over nine kilometers of pre-fabricated vertical drains on swamp. 

The completion of the road is expected to boost economic and social activities in the benefiting communities. 

The event also featured different dancing troupes from benefiting communities
