
The people of Asamabiri community in Sagbama Local Government Area are full of gratitude to the Bayelsa State government and the Education Development Trust Fund, EDTF for the provision of a water project to its educational institutions.
The benefitting institutions are the Government Secondary School and the Community Primary School, Asamabiri.Asamabiri is a community accessible by a thirty minute speed boat ride from Agbere in Sagbama Local Government Area.

In the past, members of the community, pupils, students and teachers often fetch water for drinking, cooking and other purposes directly from the River with some people experiencing water borne diseases such as cholera and diarrhea.
When the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund, EDTF constructed a 9,000 liter water facility in the community, natives were full of ecstasy with the Amananowei, Chief Joseph Odoni conveying the gratitude of the people for the initiative.
Similarly, the Principal of Government Secondary School, Asamabiri, Mr. Edwin Moses said the project would put an end to the water challenge of students, teachers and National Youth Service Corps Members, pledging to safeguard and maintain the facility.

Director Exams and Records at the State Ministry of Education, Mr. Monday Eke who represented the Commissioner for Education to inaugurate the project before handing it over to the community expressed the commitment of the government and its agencies to the provision of basic amenities in schools.
The Team Lead of the EDTF to Asamabiri and Chairman of the Scientific Research and Technology Development Support Committee, High Chief Adombazi Tawari who described the project as a significant milestone in the quest to providing clean water and improve sanitation and hygiene enjoined the people to secure the facility.

Technical Director of the Sustainable Partnership Initiative for Development (SPID), Mr. Emmanuel Aku, gave an assurance that the development agency would continue to partner the EDTF to improve learning and teaching conditions in schools.
