Rivers State Government is to embark on comprehensive upgrade of facilities at the NYSC camp in Nonwa-Gbam Tai.

The Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas who stated this during the closing ceremony of 2025 Batch A Stream II orientation course for Corps Members deployed to Rivers State at Nonwa-Gbam Tai, mentioned works to be done to include, construction of drainage system and proper channelization of water to prevent flooding in the camp .

The Administrator who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibibia Worika, urged the Corps Members to be role models in the communities, assuring his administration’s continued support at all times especially in issus of security and welfare.

Ibas enjoined Corps Members to demonstrate utmost commitment in improving the lives of members of their host communities.”

“In the coming weeks and months, we will be embarking on comprehensive upgrade of camp facilities in the camp such as inadequate mattresses, repair of falling roofs and ceilings, construction of drainage system and proper channelization of water to prevent flooding in the camp” he said.

“I charge you all to take your personal security very seriously and be assured of my administration’s commitment to ensure that your welfare is topnotch in the State” he added.

The State NYSC coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe in his address, stated that the Corps Members have been posted with due consideration to their areas of specialization while he urged them to use the opportunity to give back to the nation and discover their true purpose.

Mr. Oleghe appealed to all Corps Employers to provide them with suitable accommodation, monthly stipend and other welfare incentives to motivate them for optimal performance.

“I urge you to seize this unique opportunity to not only give back to our nation but also discover your true purpose. This Service Year is more than a commitment, it is a chance to explore your passion, develop your skills and gain insights that will shape your future. Let each day of the Service Year present a new lesson.”

Two Corps Members, Okorafor ezinne and Favour chikwado described the camp trainings as suitable for a great future.Our correspondent reports that a total of 2302 Corps completed the orientation exercise in Rivers State successfully.
