
Ahead of the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration later this month, the Independent Electoral Commission has tasked stakeholders to support the process in ensuring a smooth, inclusive and credible exercise.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bayelsa State, Mallam Isah Ehimeakhe made the call at a news briefing at the State Headquarters in Yenagoa.

While online pre-registration begins on August eighteen thus year, the physical registration starts on August twenty-five at INEC Local Government Area Registration Centres across the State.
Mallam Isah Ehimeakhe urged all Nigerians resident in Bayelsa who have attained the age of eighteen and those yet to register to utilize the window offered by the forthcoming Continuous Voter Registration to do so in order to participate in the democratic process.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bayelsa State however warned against double and under aged registration which according to him were illegal and against the Electoral Act 2022 and offences that are punishable by Law.
While reiterating the commitment of the Commission to protecting the voting rights of every Nigerian, he appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, political parties, youth and women groups, civil society organisations and the media to support and promote the voter registration drive.
Mallam Ehimeakhe who assumed duties as INEC REC in Bayelsa State on June 17 this year, succeeding Mr. Obo Effanga, said Voter Registration was a key aspect in citizens’ participation in the democratic process.
