
As academics resumes for 2025/2026 session in schools at both States and federal level, Population Services International, PSI Nigeria has advocated against stigma in schools, adding that no child should be made to stay back from school due to Menstruation.
PSI champion, Mrs Mfon Akanimoh who stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria noted that parents should not only put all their attention on buying of books , text books but also provide moral guidance and training on personal care. especially during Menstruation.
She added that the primary responsibility of parents is raising children as such, parents should provide support observe the developmental changes in their young girls
” The attitude of parents should go beyond buying books, Children needs guidance, encouragement and prayers. Parents should not hand over their responsibility to nannies, tutors . The primary responsibility of raising children is that of the parents”.
The PSI Champion who is also certified Teacher with many years of experience in Teenagers grooming urged young girls on personal hygiene during Menstruation.
” Girls should take their bath two to three times a day , change their sanitary pads.
Mrs Mfon added that every girl child deserves dignity , access to menstrual products and should not be made to stay back from school due to mentation.
