
Delta State Commissioner for oil and gas, Mr Peter Uviejitobor has said his ministry will intensify efforts to make the state remain top in crude oil and gas production in the state.
Briefing newsmen shortly after defending his ministry’s budget in Asaba, Mr Uviejitobor attributed the state leading position to the prevailing peace and security in oil producing communities in the state.
He said his ministry, saddled with the responsibility of preventing and resolving disputes and crises between oil companies and host communities, had continued to carry out the task satisfactorily to both parties.
”Our ministry is into mediation of crises. We have done well in resolving disputes. We don’t take side with host communities; we don’t take side with oil companies. We look at issues holistically, and take a decision. That is why there is peace across the state especially the oil industry”, Uviejitobor stated.
The Delta State Commissioner for oil and gas hinted that his ministry had surpassed the revenue target for 2025 with over two hundred percent from fees collected from oil companies operating in the state, which he highlighted to include registration and renewal of fees for oil and gas industry, lifting discharge and allied activity, fees
”On revenue drive, we have exceeded target. And the revenue realised is nearly tripled. The percentage is over 200 per cent revenue realised from registration and renewal of fees for oil and gas industries, product storage,lifting discharge and allied activity, fees include petroleum products, haulage trucks”.
”We appeal to the governor to support us with mobility vehicles and speed boats to enhance our revenue drive in oil producing riverine communities”, Uviejitobor stated.
