One of the candidates in the forthcoming Presidential election of the pan Izon socio-cultural organization, the Ijaw National Congress, Elder Timi-Kaiser Ogoriba says he will adopt an intellectual approach to ensure that the struggle for a more equitable and just system for the Niger Delta people is actualized.

He gave the assurance while addressing newsmen at the Ijaw House in Yenagoa shortly after picking his form of interest to contest for the Presidency of the apex Ijaw body.

The race for a new leadership of the Ijaw National Congress has intensified following the signal by the Electoral Committee for the contest to begin.

Throwing his hat into the ring, a veteran in the Ijaw struggle, Elder Timi-Kaiser Ogoriba said he was going into the election to galvanize the INC and the people to address some of the age long challenges confronting the Ijaw people if elected as President.

Elder Ogoriba, the pioneer President of the pressure group, the Movement for the Survival of the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality, [MOSIEND} and an architect of the famous Kaiama Declaration said only a peaceful and intellectual engagement would solve some of the socio-economic and political challenges plaguing the Ijaw people.

He promised to reposition the Ijaw National Congress to emancipate the people and achieve issues such as true federalism, resource control, creation of more States for the Ijaws such as Toru-Ibe and Oil Rivers States and address the marginalization of the area.

The INC which was founded in 1991 will have elections for a new leadership on March 7 this year.
