Edo state commissioner for Education, Dr Emmanuel Iyamu has called on youths in the state to support Governor Monday Okpebholo administration to move Edo state to a greater height.

Dr Iyamu gave the advice in a Chat with Radio Nigeria while commenting on the 2026 international Day of Education, held January 24 annually.

He noted that Governor Okpebholo administration since assumption, had put in place policies and programmes towards helping the people especially the youths.

” Edo state is for all of us, the Governor is doing his best, more than his best to make sure that the children even from humble beginning and disadvantaged home are given a place and a space in the success table.”

Narrating numerous feats recorded in the Education sector since coming into office he called on youths in the state to continue to accord the state Government, the needed support for more development.

” We have built close to a hundred schools in the state, all the back logs of payments in the tertiary institutions in the state have been cleared, one hundred and twenty eight medical graduates that were not inducted after five years, have now been inducted, eight hundred and ten nursing graduates that were not inducted after six years, have been inducted as a result of this Government, one billion naira Busery was earmarked for students across tertiary institutions, there’s also sponsorship of five students and seven lecturers to Study in China, with other achievement too numerous to mention “.

In 2018, the United Nations GeneralAssembly proclaimed January 24 as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.

The theme for this year’s international Day of Education is “The power of youth in co-creating Education”.
