Five hundred youths of Niger Delta have benefited from Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC skills acquisition on Compressed Natural Gas CNG Autogas conversion Training.

Presenting certificates to the beneficiaries during graduation ceremony at Dakkada Skills Acquisition Center, Ikot Ada-Idem Akwa Ibom State, the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno applauded NDDC for keying into the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Tinubu.

With the quest for cleaner energy due to environmental issues caused by carbon emissions, Compressed Natural Gas CNG appears to provide a solution for the future.
The beneficiaries at the training were groomed in
Welding, Fabrication, safety procedures, mechanical, electrical and calibration with the aid of computer.

Speaking at the event, Akwa Ibom State Governor, pastor Umo Eno, Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Mr.
Enobong Uwa commended NDDC for aligning with the Renewed Hope Initiative on Compressed Natural gas autogas conversion.

The Governor pledged to continue to partner NDDC for the development of the region.

Similarly, Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who described the training as a definite step to secure a bright future for the youths, Challenged the beneficiaries to engage in self development to be able to meet up with competition and market demands.

Dr. Ogbuku who was happy over the conduct of the trainees explained that the beneficiaries were selected from NDDC Database, where the participants indicated their choices of skills to venture into.

He asserted that CNG Conversion was the future opportunity considering the inconsistencies in the energy industry.

The NDDC boss assured the commission would take further steps to assist them acquire their personal conversion equipments to function optimally and be able to train others.

He stated that there would be State clusters to enable them grow together.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Interventionist Agency advised the graduants to register with Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce to access funds that would help them to set up their outfits and launch into real business.

In a remark, Executive Director Projects, EDP, Sir Victor Antai noted that the training would create jobs and would make conversion centers available within the region.

According to him, it would boost clean energy.

On the training report, the consultant, Mr. Tunde Runner expressed confidence that the quality of training the beneficiaries gained would enable them to become self employed.

Mr. Runner Charged the graduants to stick to the knowledge acquired in their activities especially, safety in all endeavours.

He told them that the mentorship would continue virtually to provide them a platform to fall back in times of difficulty.

The consultant commended NDDC for coming up with such lofty ideas that would transform the region and nation at large.

The MD NELFUND Mr. Akintunde Sawyarr while appreciating NDDC, noted that the training would add to the growth of the nation’s economy.

Responding, two of the beneficiaries, Mr. Bright Ogolo and Elvina IGHORAYE expressed joy over the opportunity, saying that it would reduce environmental issues and transportation costs.

High point of the event was presentation of certificates and starter packs to the beneficiaries.
