The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has urged young people across Akwa Ibom State to embrace entrepreneurship, remain resilient, and take advantage of opportunities provided by government programmes to build sustainable businesses.
Lady Obareki, who made the call during a visit to Esa Ndidia, a thriving indigenous food business founded by Miss Blessing Gabriel Emah, as the establishment celebrated its first anniversary in Uyo, challenged them to embrace entrepreneurship as a tool for economic independence, job creation, and personal fulfillment.
The visit served as both a celebration of the business milestone and a recognition of the determination, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit that have propelled the venture’s steady growth within the community.
Commending Blessing for her courage and commitment, Lady Obareki described her as a shining example of what young people can achieve through vision, consistency, and dedication.
“We came out to support a local business that is showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Akwa Ibom State. From Ekpang Nkukwo and Afang Soup to Ndek Iyak, Okra Soup, and Isiewu, the experience was truly remarkable.
“I am particularly proud that a daughter of the soil, who benefited from training through Ibom-LED under the leadership of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has taken the initiative to establish a beautiful business that promotes our culture while creating economic opportunities,” she said.
She noted that the success of Esa Ndidia demonstrates that entrepreneurship remains a viable pathway to self-reliance, economic empowerment, and community development.
Addressing young people across the state, Lady Obareki encouraged them to believe in their ideas, develop their skills, and take bold steps toward building enterprises that can create value and employment.
“We are proud of her achievements and came here with family, friends, and members of my team to show our support. Her journey reflects the vision of the ARISE Agenda and sends a clear message to other young people that success is possible when you are willing to work hard and remain focused.
“To every young person with a dream, I encourage you to take that first step. The government has created support systems and opportunities to help you succeed. If you have a skill, talent, or business idea, nurture it and pursue it with determination. You can build something meaningful with your hands and contribute to the growth of our state.”
Lady Obareki reaffirmed the commitment of the Office of the First Lady through the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA) to continue supporting women-led businesses and youth-driven enterprises across Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking on the anniversary celebration, an emotional Blessing Gabriel Emah expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as a source of motivation and encouragement to keep growing her business.
She said the recognition reinforces her commitment to excellence and serves as a reminder that perseverance, passion, and hard work can turn a simple idea into a successful enterprise.
