
As part of its legislative oversight responsibilities in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance has commenced its second-quarter budget appraisal of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
The Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Itorobong Etim, while addressing heads of MDAs at the temporary office of the Assembly, Luton Park Hotel, Uyo, during the first day of the appraisal exercise, said the assessment became necessary to enable the Committee to evaluate the implementation and performance of the 2026 budget by the various agencies.
Dr. Etim, who also represents Uruan State Constituency, disclosed that the exercise will continue tomorrow at the Speaker’s Lodge, A-Line, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo. She, however, called on all MDAs yet to appear before the Committee to respond promptly to the invitation.
She commended the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Trade and Investment, the Ministry of Environment, the Office of the Accountant General, and the Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company (APICO), Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic and few other MDAs that appeared for the exercise.
The Uruan lawmaker also used the opportunity to commend the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, for prioritizing development in the state.
She further expressed appreciation to the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, for his dynamic leadership and for providing an enabling environment for the successful conduct of the exercise.
