His Eminence, Barr. Nwachuku Obuoha Nnam Obi III, Oba (Eze Ogba) of Ogba Land, Rivers State, has extended heartfelt greetings and warm felicitations to the people of Egi Clan and the entire Ogba people as they celebrate this year’s Egwu Egi Festival.
In a goodwill message marking the celebration, His Eminence described the Egwu Egi Festival as a proud expression of the rich cultural heritage, history, identity and unity of the Egi people, noting that the festival remains an important platform for preserving the values and traditions handed down by their forefathers.
He emphasized that cultural festivals are more than moments of celebration and entertainment; they are opportunities for communities to reconnect with their roots, strengthen bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, and inspire younger generations to appreciate and preserve their heritage.
His Eminence therefore called on the sons and daughters of Egi and Ogba Land, both at home and in the diaspora, to use the occasion to promote peace, love, unity, mutual respect and togetherness.
He urged all participants and visitors to celebrate responsibly, peacefully and with due respect for the customs, traditions and dignity of the people, stressing that the true beauty of any cultural celebration lies in the peace and unity it creates among the people.
The revered monarch also prayed for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of Egi Clan and Ogba Land, expressing confidence that the enduring cultural values of the people would continue to serve as a strong foundation for a united and prosperous future.
He wished the people of Egi Clan and all sons and daughters of Ogba Land a joyful, peaceful, safe and memorable Egwu Egi Festival, while calling on everyone to celebrate with pride and gratitude for the rich heritage they have inherited.
As the drums sound and the people gather to celebrate, His Eminence encourages all to remember that our culture is our identity, our unity is our strength, and our heritage is our legacy.
