Corps Members of 2026 Batch B stream II deployed to Rivers State have been advised to take seriously, the skill acquisition training learnt in-camp, while they must work diligently to perfect on it, post-camp.

Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe gave the advice on Friday when he declared closed, the SAED in-camp training for the Corps Members at NYSC permanentorientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai LGA.

He used the occasion to charge the Corps Members to make “deliberate and intentional effort” to perfect on their chosen skill set, post camp, as the 9-day in-camp training is not enough to acquire all the knowledge that will stand them out in their chosen skill.

He concluded by assuring them that the skill they acquired today will put food in their mouth tomorrow and thereby enhance their contribution to the “growth and development” of the country.

Earlier, the SAED officer in the state, Mrs. Carol Chukwu in her closing address, appreciated the Corps Members for their massive “turnout, commitment, and dedication” to acquire a skill. She charged them to carry the same zeal and enthusiasm to their post-camp training in order to become employers of labor sooner than later.

At the end of the SAED inter-platoon competition, 7 platoon emerged overall best as 1st position, 1 platoon, 2nd position and 9 platoon, 3rd position.

Meanwhile, the military tradition of “unity, comradeship, command and control” were at full display at the NYSC Rivers camp, as the 2026 Batch B Stream II inter-platoon drill competition took the center stage.

Announcing the result, the Chief Umpire, Major OP Onibon commended the Corps Members for displaying “high level” performance that any military personnel will be very proud of. 8 platoon took the 1st position, 4 platoon 2nd and 7 platoon 3rd at the end of the competition. 10 platoon which the last position were awarded the ‘Otondo’ wooden spoon.

Similarly, 5 platoon and 7 platoon coasted to victory in the football and volleyball games of 2026 Batch B stream II inter-platoon competition.

In a pulsating football final that ended 1-1 in regulation time, 5 platoon held their nerve to despatch 10 platoon 9-8 on penalties that went into sudden death.

In volleyball, 7 platoon easily sent 9 platoon packing through a straight 2-0.Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, represented by the Camp Director, Mrs. Chinedu Chilaka congratulated the winners for their “resilience, doggedness and dexterity” that made them stand out that amongst their peers as champions.

In football, it was 5 platoon 1st, 10 platoon 2nd and 1 platoon 3rd.In volleyball, it was 7 platoon 1st, 9 platoon 2nd and 1 platoon 3rd.
