The Rivers State Ministry of Transport has extended the deadline for all commercial vehicles and tricycles operating in the state to be painted in the approved Rivers State colours of light blue and white.
The extension followed appeals and pleas from transport operators across the state, according to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Mrs Vera Ndidi Sam-Dike.
The ministry said the deadline, which was earlier set for compliance, has now been extended to December 31, 2026.
It advised all owners, operators and drivers of commercial vehicles, including tricycle operators, to take advantage of the extension and ensure that their vehicles are properly painted in the approved state colours within the stipulated period.
The ministry warned that enforcement of the directive would commence in the first week of January 2027.
It also directed commercial vehicle operators who have yet to paint their vehicles in the Rivers State colours to report to the ministry to comply with directives concerning the enumeration of their vehicles.
According to the statement, the deadline for the enumeration exercise is the second week of October 2026, after which enforcement measures will also commence.
The ministry urged all affected transport operators to comply with the directives within the specified deadlines to avoid sanctions during enforcement.
