The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote unity, development, youth empowerment and the welfare of residents.

Ogorugba stated this when he received members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Local Government Chapter, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Secretariat, Ozoro.

The chairman described the media as a vital partner in promoting development, accountability and constructive engagement between government and the people. He noted that journalists have an important responsibility to inform the public, amplify citizens’ concerns and highlight developmental efforts across the local government.

He assured the NUJ of his continued support and expressed his willingness to maintain a cordial relationship with the union, stressing that his administration remained open to ideas, constructive criticism and partnerships that would advance the interests of the people.

According to Ogorugba, sustainable development can only be achieved through collective efforts and meaningful collaboration among government, the media, traditional institutions, youth organisations, community leaders and other stakeholders.

He also urged journalists to uphold professionalism and responsible journalism, noting that accurate and balanced reportage would contribute to peace, unity and development in Isoko North.

Earlier, the NUJ delegation thanked the chairman for granting them an audience and for his continued support for activities aimed at promoting the welfare and development of the people.

The delegation commended Ogorugba for his accessibility and engagement with stakeholders, expressing optimism that the relationship between the council and the NUJ would continue to grow.

Ogorugba Backs Isoko Students, Youth Development

In a separate engagement, Ogorugba commended the national leadership of the National Union of Isoko Students Worldwide (NUIS) for promoting unity, purposeful leadership and the interests of Isoko students.

The chairman gave the commendation when he received the national leadership of NUIS on a courtesy visit at the Council Secretariat, Ozoro.

Ogorugba described students and young people as critical stakeholders in governance and nation-building, stressing that their ideas, contributions and aspirations should receive adequate attention in the development process.

He assured the union that his administration would continue to support initiatives focused on improving education, empowering young people, developing skills and creating opportunities for youths across Isoko North.

The council chairman said his administration would explore partnerships with youth and student organisations to develop programmes aimed at expanding educational opportunities, promoting entrepreneurship and equipping young people with relevant skills for self-reliance.

He urged students to remain united, disciplined and focused on their education and personal development, assuring them that the council would continue to listen to their concerns and support credible initiatives capable of positively impacting their lives.

Earlier, the NUIS leadership thanked the chairman for the warm reception and commended his accessibility and youth-friendly disposition.

The student leaders explained that the visit was aimed at formally acquainting the chairman with the activities of the union, appreciating his support for youth-oriented initiatives and seeking stronger collaboration with the local government on student welfare and youth development.

They expressed their readiness to partner with the council on programmes aimed at improving students’ welfare and promoting youth development across Isoko North.
