Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in the state, urging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and take President Bola Tinubu’s message to voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oborevwori spoke in Asaba during the inauguration of the campaign council and the unveiling of “MORE Plus” as the theme of his re-election campaign.
The campaign council is chaired by Governor Oborevwori, with Senator James Manager as Director-General and Chiedu Ebie as Deputy Director-General, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
The Delta State Governor urged party members to move beyond rallies and political meetings to engage voters directly through door-to-door campaigns and community outreach.
Oborevwori stressed that the campaign must reach market women, youths, workers, farmers, traders and other grassroots stakeholders, noting that sustained engagement with the electorate would be critical to securing victory for Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates.
He described membership of the campaign council as a call to service, urging members to demonstrate unity, discipline and commitment in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The governor also directed campaign coordinators at the local government and ward levels to strengthen party structures, collaborate with support groups and ensure that the APC’s message reaches every polling unit across the state.
He urged members to highlight the achievements of the APC-led Federal Government and his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security.
“Our achievements must speak for us, but we must also be prepared to explain them convincingly,” Oborevwori said.
He assured residents that political activities would not distract his administration from delivering on its promises, adding that ongoing projects and development programmes would continue throughout the campaign period.
The governor also appealed to politicians and their supporters to maintain peace, shun hate speech and ensure that political differences did not threaten the unity of the state.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, also defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, acknowledging the hardship associated with the policies but insisting that they were necessary to address longstanding economic challenges, including the rising cost of fuel subsidies.
In his welcome address, Delta APC Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, described the inauguration as a demonstration of the party’s readiness to contest and win elections at all levels in 2027.
He urged council members to work collectively, mobilise voters peacefully and translate the achievements of APC-led governments into electoral support.
Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who spoke on behalf of Delta North Senatorial District, said expectations were high following the defection of political leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in April 2025.
Okowa challenged the campaign council to demonstrate the party’s growing strength through impressive electoral performance, emphasising the importance of direct voter engagement rather than relying solely on rallies.
Speaking for Delta Central Senatorial District, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor expressed satisfaction that the APC had become the ruling party in Delta State and pledged support for the re-election of Tinubu and Oborevwori.
Similarly, former Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, representing Delta South Senatorial District, expressed confidence that the achievements of the Oborevwori administration would strengthen the party’s campaign. He assured that the district would work towards delivering substantial votes for APC candidates.
Former APC National Woman Leader and Executive Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, Stella Okotete, called on women to intensify grassroots mobilisation, setting a target of at least 75 per cent of votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Responding on behalf of the campaign council, its Director-General, Senator James Manager, pledged to work closely with party leaders and members to secure victory in the 2027 elections.
Manager described the assignment as a major responsibility requiring collective commitment, unity and sustained grassroots mobilisation.
