Participants at a townhall meeting in Asaba, Delta State have called on Nigerians to continue to support the ongoing economic reform policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu’s administration geared towards enhancing the growth and development of the country.

The townhall meeting organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation , was the South South Sensitization on President Bola Tinubu’s administration mid-term report.

Participants at the event including heads of federal government establishments , community and religious leaders, members of civil society organisations, traders, artisans, students and corps members, and youths, housewives, farmers, retirees and many others commended the efforts of the present administration led by President Bola Tinubu especially in areas of social interventions , road infrastructure and debt repayment.

In an address of welcome, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris said the administration of President Bola Tinubu had in the past two years disbursed over 500 million naira to 1,797 farmers via Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Project in Niger Delta (LIFE-ND).

He stated further that President Tinubu’s administration had created opportunities for over 300, 000 beneficiaries of students’ loans scheme.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation represented by the Head of Federal Information Centre, Asaba, Mr Felix Ijomah revealed that President Tinubu’s administration had released over 250 billion naira to states to revamp primary health centres across the country, apart from embarking on building of 8000 new primary health centres across the 774 local government areas.

Mr Mohammed Idris who highlighted the achievements of the administration to include the establishments of five regional development commission’s, hinted that over 440 mega road projects being executed by the Tinubu’s administration were ongoing, including the Lagos–Calabar coaster highway which is expected to attract massive tourism and investment opportunities.

The immediate past Delta State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr John Onovroke who noted that much had been achieved by the present administration in agriculture, urged Nigerians to imbibe the positive attitude of showcasing the gains of the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, instead of dwelling on the temporary challenges occasioned by the economic reforms.

Mr Onovroke stressed the need for Nigerians to appreciate the various agricultural programmes being implemented by the Tinubu’s administration geared towards ensuring food sufficiency.

”For me, one fundamental thing this government has achieved is the successful launching and implementation of a new policy on agriculture which is the National Agricultural Technological and Innovation Policy. It’s a 4- year policy that came into effect in 2023”, Onovroke stated.

Some other heads of federal government establishments in Delta State including the State Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mrs Eucharia Ozulumba, the Deputy Director, National Directorate of Employment, South South Zonal Office, Asaba, Mrs Edith Omoku and the State Manager, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Kennedy Onyeonobi took turns to showcase the social interventions and opportunities created in their various ministries by the Tinubu’s administration .

Delta State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mrs Tracy Ikolom whoi said her agency was saddled with the responsibility of sensitizing Nigerians on the policies and programmes of government, stated that President Bola Tinubu was working relentlessly to transform the nation’s economy for the good of all Nigerians.

Ikolomi said, ” Tinubu’s administration had done a lot for Nigerians. Let’s continue to support his administration, so that more will be done. Let’s keep hope alive”

Chairman on the occasion, and retired director, Pension Administration, South South Pension Area Office, Asaba , Sir Joe Asem , remarked that the present administration had surprised the thomases with impressive achievements in the last two years, when compared to the previous administrations.

He urged Nigerians, especially civil servants not to depend entirely on government for everything but to think of other legitimate ways of improving on their wellbeing.

The highlight of the townhall meeting included an interactive session where those in attendance had opportunities to ask questions and seek interventions on issues affecting.
