The closing ceremony of the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba begins today morning with the finals of the 4 by 100 metres relay for boys and girls as well as the 4 by 400 metres mixed relay .

Meanwhile, the winner of the 200 metres race for girls category, Chukwuma Faith of Delta State has expressed gratitude to God, and to the people and government of the state for her victory.
Chukwuma Faith who was shedding tears of joy after finishing the race ahead of other girls, said she made a commitment that she would emerge the queen of 200 metres.

She said, ”I was the the youngest among the athletes that represented Delta State at the just concluded National Sports Festival that held in Abeokuta. I was the bronze medalist in the 200 metres at age 13 . Thereafter, I made up my mind that I was going to win the 200 metres race, and I finally did. I just want to say thank you to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the chairman of the state sports commission , Onoriode, my coach and my mother who supported me with prayers.

Continuing, Chukwuma Faith who clinched a silver medal in 100 metre race stated, “My team mates and I also won three gold medals ”

From the medals table made available to sports journalists by the media and publicity sub committee for the youth games, Team Lagos is on comfortable Lead with 47 gold, 28 silver and 22 bronze medals, followed by Team Edo with 33 gold, 14 silver and 22 bronze medals while Delta State has garnered 31 gold, 36 silver and 33 bronze medals to occupy the third position.

Thirty two states have registered their presence on the medals table
