NSCDC DEBUNKS ALLEGATION OF ILLEGAL DETENTION OF SUSPECT

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Rivers State Command has debunked insinuations of unlawful detection of a suspect. 

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Command, Assistant Commandant Oguntuase Michael who made the clarification in an interview in Port Harcourt explained that the suspect was arrested following an allegation of threat to life by Mrs. Cecilia Chukwu.

“One Cecilia Chukwu came to our Office, weeping and wailing alleging that some hoodlums have stormed her residence with the intent of kidnapping her children.”

“On getting to the place some of the guys took to their heels, but along the line, through intelligence, we were able to arrest one Jamilu Alfa”

 “So this Jamilu Alfa through investigation we were able to understand that he was contracted by one Tiger who is the king pin of the group that stormed that compound”.

Mr. Michael said that although the suspect confessed to have invaded the woman’s house, he was granted bail but has not been able to meet the bail condition. 

“The Nigeria security and Civil Defence Corps, One of our mandates is to ensure the protection of lives and property.”

“So, in this case, this is a threat to life, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has all it takes to ensure the protection of lives.”

“But in the process of investigation, we will determine whether to charge the suspect to court or hand over to other relevant agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.”

The Rivers State Command NSCDC PRO asked members of the public to discountenance the false information as the Corps has regard for human rights.
