Stakeholders have advocated the need to migrate from the use of fossil fuel to renewable energy.
At a global gathering to examine the effects of indiscriminate exploration on host communities in Port Harcourt,they opined that real action must be taken to stop the environmental damaging activity.
In his submission an environmental activist, Comrade Nnimmo Bassey stressed that power of decision on exploration must be given to the people.
Two other environmental activists, Eteng Bautista and Makoma Lekalakala who joined the gathering virtually said people must continue to speak up against the indiscriminate act.
Two participants, a Nigerian and a Senegalese lamented the effects of exploration activities on people of their area.
The stakeholders at the Non governmental organization, Oilwatch global gathering maintained that fossil fuel must remain in the ground.
