Port Harcourt residents decry indiscriminate dumping of refuse

By Miracle Ordu

Residents of NTA Choba road have decried indiscriminate dumping of refuse along the road saying that such act poses great threat to the health of residents.

Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent called on the government and relevant authorities to look into the situation.

Two of them, Mr. Adebi and Mr. Abraham Isaac stressed the need to enforce the law restricting people from dumping refuse on the median of public roads.

They said the activities of scavengers should also be checked.

Another respondent, Mr. Livinus Eze advised that government should provide dump sites at strategic points where residents could dispose their refuse to avoid dumping them on road side.

Mr. Eze also urged residents of the area to desist from dumping refuse into drainages as it leads to flooding.
