BAYELSA STATE TAKES DELIVERY OF POST FLOOD RELIEF MATERIALS FROM NDDC

Bayelsa State has taken delivery of the post flood Relief materials being distributed by Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to assuage the loss incurred by victims. 

Making the donations in Yenegoa, the Acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Emmanuel Audu -Ohwavborua noted that Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Umana Umana gave the directive during his visit to affected communities at the peak of the Flood. 

He acknowledged that many have lost their loved ones and asked them to be comforted and take solace in God. 

The Acting Managing Director who was represented by Deputy Director Health and Social Services, Dr Ezugwu Patience maintained that the interventionist agency has a broad plan for the health concerns of the people of the region, post Flood.

Similarly, the Director Bayelsa State Office, Theophilus Alagoa who said that the effects of the flood were much assured the people that NDDC has a human face and understands the situation. 

He told them that NDDC brought enough goodies for them and will monitor the distribution up to ward level.

Receiving the items on behalf of Bayelsa State Government, Chairman, Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency, Mr.  Sam Igrubia who appreciated NDDC for the gesture, expressed optimism that the commission will continue to come to the assistance of the people.

Mr. Igurubia however pleaded with NDDC to come to the aid of farmers because most of the farmers did forced harvesting because of the flood.

One of the beneficiaries and Coordinator of Widows in Bayelsa Mama Promise Aaron expressed joy over the donations admitting that the extent of the flood was unprecedented.

Some of the items donated were bags of rice, beans, garri, mattress, beverages and other household items.
