NDDC TO TACKLE PROJECT ABANDONMENT THROUGH BUDGETARY ALLOCATION

Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says budgetary allocation will be used to tackle abandonment of projects. 

Dr. Ogbuku who made this known in Igbogene community Bayelsa  State while inaugurating three completed road projects in the state , expressed optimism  that the access roads would open up the locality for economic activities. 

The roads inaugurated were, two kilometres Sixteen Brigade Nigerian Army internal road with ash falt and and concrete finishing, GRA road network with solar powered street light and one point four kilometres rigid pavement Igbogene internal road .

Speaking during the inauguration, the managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who insisted on the commitment of management to develop the rural communities, however acknowledged the difficulty in road construction within swampy environment. 

Dr. Ogbuku gave assurance that the era of abandonment of projects was over because contracts would be awarded in line with budgetary allocation.

He advised the youths to maintain peaceful disposition to provide enabling environment for infrastructural Development in their communities. 

Similarly, Director Bayelsa State Office, Mr. Theophilus  Alagoa who described the projects as a testimony of the determination of NDDC to extend development to remote areas, gave assurance of durability of the projects. 

Reacting to the development, the monarch of Igbogene, His Royal Highness, Professor Augustine Ikein who explained that the road has given the residents a sense of belonging, appreciated NDDC for the gesture. 

On his part, another resident in GRA who acknowledged that the road and street light have improved security and social activities within the area, however asked for  more of such projects.
