COMMANDANT MICHAEL OGAR

BY GABRIEL OKECHUKWU, FRCN PORT HARCOURT

Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp NSCDC, Rivers State Command, Michael Ogar says the allegations leveled against him that led to demonstration by petroleum trucks drivers were false.

Commandant Ogar who made the clarification while responding to the allegations in Port Harcourt Rivers State, explained that due process was followed in all ramifications concerning the forfeiture of the trucks which were handed over to the Corps by Nigerian Army.

He maintained that after the court judgment regarding the forfeiture of the trucks in question, publications were done in National and local Newspapers since last year but there were no objections.

On the claim by the truck drivers that they got a judgment in their favour for the release of the trucks in a Magistrate Court, Commandant Ogar explained that Magistrate court does not have jurisdiction to try cases of oil theft.

The NSCDC Rivers State Commandant who has been re-deployed outside the state, backed his argument with documents regarding the forfeiture process.
