FEMALE JOURNALISTS URGED TO BUILD CAPACITY FOR SOCIETAL RELEVANCE

Female Journalists have been urged to garner the right capacity to contribute favourably to Nation building, as their male counterparts.

Director of a non-governmental organization, Step up for Women in Journalism Initiative, Mrs. Ann GODwin and an entrepreneur, Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia who made the call in a Capacity building forum for Female Journalists in Port Harcourt, want government and the public to accord women the support needed to maximize quality contribution to societal growth.

Also speaking, President, Advancing Women in Business, Mrs. Josephine Itonyo and a Professor with the Rivers State University, Professor GODwin Okon, called for urgent implementation of the Gender Policy Bill to lessen the plight of women in the society. 

While Mrs. Itonyo urged female Journalists to get involved in the Tech world, Professor Okon on his part called for the speedy implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. 

The forum which had large attendance, earlier had the virtual session with a former Commissioner of Information in Rivers State, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari as one of the Resource persons.
