NIGERIAN AIR FORCE AND NDDC STRESS ON PEACE AND SECURITY IN NIGER DELTA REGION

Managing Director Niger Delta Development COMMISSION NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has identified peace and security as catalysts to rural development.
Dr. Ogbuku who made the assertion at NDDC headquarters in Marine Base Port Harcourt Rivers State during a courtesy call by 115 Special operations Group Nigerian Air Force Port Harcourt, regretted that some companies left the region due to insecurity.
The Managing Director while emphasizing the need to create enabling environment for investors to invest and create job opportunities, urged Nigerian Air Force to help and reduce crimes in the region, especially at oil installations.
He noted that contractors handling NDDC projects as well as oil companies need security assurance to be able to carry out their jobs.
According to the MD, once investors have assurance that their investments are protected, they would invest in the locality.
Earlier on, Commander 115 Special Operations Group Nigerian Air Force,, Group Captain Aliyu IDRIS explained that they provide security for oil installations in Niger Delta region to boost oil production and improve revenue generation.
Group Captain Idris who stated that the base runs combat air crafts of the Nigerian Air Force, pledged collaboration with NDDC in the development of the region.
The Commander however requested for installation of Solar powered light in Air Force base.
Other executive directors and management staff were present during the visit.
