PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU PLEDGES TO TACKLE UNDERDEVELOPMENT IN NIGER DELTA REGION

President Bola Tinubu  says the renewed Hope Agenda is for Job creation, healthcare , education and all encompassing well being of the people. 

President Tinubu who made the assertion at the Sixth Meeting of the National Council on Niger Delta in Asaba Delta State, reiterated his commitment towards the overall development of Niger Delta region. 

Addressing the gathering at Government House Asaba Delta State, the President  gave assurance of his determination to address infrastructural deficit and insecurity in Niger Delta region and the country at large.

Represented by Minister of Steel  Development, Prince Abubakar Audi,  President Tinubu  insisted that the renewed Hope Agenda has a broader  view of  social, economic and infrastructural Development. 

Similarly, Minister of Niger Delta Development, Mr. Abubakar Momo  who explained that  Council is the highest advisory body to the ministry in policy formulation, said  the theme was chosen to proffer solutions to issues facing the region and initiate actions for economic viability. 

The Minister stated that with the signing of performance bond with the president, the ministry has  ten  mandates that would enhance  the development of the region. 

According to him,  President Tinubu  has shown commitment to making funds available for Niger Delta Development Commission  NDDC, to transform the region. 

in the same vein, Governor of Delta State, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori  stressed  on the importance of mechanized agriculture with the engagement of youths  to maximize the arable land available to the region, while Imo State Governor, Senator  Hope Uzodimma   made emphasis on industrialization to  create jobs and  reduce restiveness .

Senator Uzodimma called for a  meeting of governors of the region to have a common front in the development of the region. 

The Governors however acknowledged that the present NDDC management has started to change the narrative. 

Present at the event were Deputy Governors of Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, Cross Rivers and Edo States. 

Other were, ministers, National  Assembly members Traditional Rulers among other stakeholders.
