The City Boys Movement, Isoko North Chapter, has thrown its weight behind the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, led by its Director, Efenudu Orevaoghene, made its position known on Thursday when it paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba.
As part of the visit, the movement honoured Ogorugba with an appointment as Patron of the City Boys Movement, Isoko North Chapter, in recognition of his leadership and grassroots engagement.
Responding, Ogorugba expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the movement for the honour, describing the appointment as both a recognition of their confidence in his leadership and a responsibility he would discharge with commitment.
He said the development would further strengthen his resolve to support initiatives that promote unity, peaceful political participation, development and effective grassroots mobilisation.
Ogorugba urged members of the movement to intensify their mobilisation across wards, units, communities and streets, stressing that electoral victory could only be achieved through sustained engagement with the people.
He said: “As we gradually approach the 2027 general elections, there is a lot of work to be done. Political victory does not come by merely making declarations or attending meetings. It requires serious mobilisation, effective communication, unity of purpose and sustained engagement with our people at the grassroots.
“I therefore want to encourage every member of the City Boys Movement to remain committed and focused. Take your mobilisation to the wards, units, communities and streets. Speak with our people. Listen to their concerns and explain to them the importance of participating actively in the democratic process.
“We must ensure that our mobilisation is broad-based and inclusive. Every young person, every community leader, every woman and every stakeholder has a role to play.
“We must work together respectfully and peacefully, because politics should be about service, development and the collective interest of our people.”
The council chairman particularly charged the group not to relent in its efforts to secure victory for its preferred candidates in Isoko North, saying the “6/6 objective” must be backed by genuine grassroots mobilisation, organisation and commitment.
He, however, cautioned members against allowing political differences to cause division, urging them to maintain discipline, peace and respect for all stakeholders throughout the electioneering process.
According to him, members of the movement must distinguish themselves through peaceful mobilisation and responsible political participation as activities towards the 2027 elections gather momentum.
“Do not allow political differences to divide us as brothers and sisters. We may have different opinions and preferences, but our common interest as a people must always remain paramount,” he said.
Ogorugba assured the movement that, as its Patron, he would continue to encourage and support its activities within the limits of his responsibilities.
He commended the members for their commitment and determination, urging them to sustain the momentum and remain united, organised and peaceful in their grassroots engagements.
