
Mauritania’s Sidi Ould Tah has been elected ninth president of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB)
Dr. Tah will succeed Nigeria’s Dr. Akinwumi Adesina whose term ends in August 2025.
The President Elect has served as the president of Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa since 2015.

Born in 1964 in Mederdra, Mauritania, Dr. Tah holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis and advanced degrees from Paris VII University and the University of Nouakchott. He is fluent in Arabic, French, and English, with working knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese
His vision for the AfDB focuses on mobilizing $400 billion annually through innovative financing, strengthening partnerships, and driving industrialization, infrastructure, and inclusive growth across Africa. He emphasizes empowering youths and women
