The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, NLNG in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB has inaugurated 140 trainees to participate in the company’s Human Development advance training programme as part of its commitment to the Federal Government’s Human Capital Development mandate.
At the opening ceremony of the training tagged ‘Train 7 project HCD advanced training programme’ in Port Harcourt, NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Dr Sophia Horsfall said the training is aimed at building a strong, skilled and competitive Nigerian workforce for the oil and gas industry.
According to NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Dr Sophia Horsfall the Train 7 project Human Capital Development advanced training programme is a unique opportunity for beneficiaries to develop and actualize their potential and be able to contribute meaningfully to the future of Nigeria’s energy sector.
Dr Horsfall said prior to this, there have been basic trainings in various fields, including engineering, ICT,HSE amongst others.
Also speaking the executive secretary Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, Engr Omatsola Ogbe represented by the Manager Human Capital Development, Tarilate- Teide- Bribena said the essence of the training is to build capacity in the oil and gas industry.
In an address of welcome, the Train 7 Project Director, Ali Uwais represented by Engineer, Joshua Anemeje urged the trainees not to lose focus but remain good ambassadors.
Two of the trainees, Divine Chikwado and Anthony Ibolor said they were overwhelmed and will make the best of it as it is a lifetime opportunity.
The training which is for three months is meant to build the local expertise so Nigeria can be well represented in the oil and gas industry.
