
The Headquarters 6 Division, Nigerian Army has conducted its annual Officers’ Training Week 2025, themed “Developing the Capacity of Officers to Meet Contemporary Challenges in a Joint Environment.”
The event which took place at the Cobra Officers’ Mess, 6 Battalion, Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa, Akwa Ibom State, was attended by Army officers from across the Division.
Addressing the participants, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force(JTF) South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, stated that the training week represents his commitment and that of the Chief of Army Staff to enhancing the operational efficiency and professionalism of officers of 6 Division of the Nigerian Army.

The GOC emphasized the importance of the training week for enhancing operational efficiency and professionalism within the Nigerian Army.
He stated that the initiative aligns with his mission statement which is “To maintain the highest level of operational efficiency in 6 Division by promoting sound administration, effective training, discipline, and professionalism within a joint environment”.

In his welcome address, the Commander, 2 Brigade and Sector 4 Joint Task Force, South South Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General Alexander Tawasimi, acknowledged the GOC’s commitment to training and growth of Officers of the Six Division.
He reiterated that the Training Week aims to strengthen the capacity of officers to address the evolving security landscape, particularly in joint and inter-agency operations. He urged participants to take advantage of networking opportunities during the week.
The training week featured a series of lectures, interactive sessions, and experience-sharing led by experienced military officers, security experts, and subject-matter professionals.
