The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board says it is committed to implementing the Federal Government’s directive on the Nigeria First Policy and other programmes aimed at achieving local content in the nation’s oil and gas industry.‎‎

Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Engineer Felix Omatsola-Ogbe gave the assurance at the opening of this year’s edition of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Energy Week at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.‎‎The central theme for the Twenty-Twenty Five edition of the NOG Week is ‘Achieving Energy Sufficiency through Local Content Implementation’.‎‎

Engineer Felix Omatsola-Ogbe noted that the Federal Government had issued the Presidential Directives on Local Content requirements which the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has developed and issued guidelines to implement.

‎‎The Executive Secretary of the NCDMB stressed that the most recent of these aimed at deepening local content is the Nigeria First Policy which he described as a strategic push to reclaim economic independence by harnessing local capacity.

‎‎Engineer Omatsola-Ogbe who explained that the Board was developing a Nigeria First Procurement Policy amongst other steps, also highlighted the Back to Creek Programme which seeks to achieve economic growth, create jobs by focusing on vocational skills, ICT, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM education for students and youths in the Creeks.‎‎

In one of the Strategic Panel Sessions on the Opening Day of the Nigeria Oil and Gas Energy Week, 2025, the Director, Corporate Services at the NCDMB, Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu reassured that the Board was working hard to actualize local content in the country’s oil and gas sector.‎‎

In another session on Deepening Community Participation through Accessible Financing, the Moderator, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, who is the General Manager – Corporate Communications at the Board dwelt on the Community Contractors Fund.‎‎ In an address of welcome, Portfolio Director – Africa and Country Manager – Nigeria, DMG events, Wemimo Oyelana stressed that the theme for this year’s Energy Week calls for action from all stakeholders to attain energy security through local content implementation.
