The Federal Road Safety Corps, Cross River State Command has debunked rumours of a fatal accident that allegedly claimed 16 lives along the Calabar-Itu Highway.
The Corps dismissed the claims during a courtesy visit by the Sector Commander, Mr Innocent Etuk to the Cross River State Council of the NUJ.
Mr Etuk urged journalists in the State to always confirm information put out to the public so as not to mislead Citizens.
He noted that the Corps relies on the media to create awareness through its reportage on the good use of the road.
In her response, the Chairman, Cross River State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Archibong Bassey pledged the Councils support in advocacy and partnership.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the Nigeria Highway code to the Chairman of NUJ.
