The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Cross River State Council has sworn in its new Executive members into office.

A legal practitioner, Mrs Olive Onah, administered the oaths of office and allegiance to the elected EXCO members while the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya , represented by the NUJ South South Zonal Vice President, Comrade Okpaka Dokubu presided over the swearing-in at the Ernest Etim Press Center in Calabar.

Comrade Dokubu charged the newly sworn-in Excos to ensure that the Union maximizes its full potential during their tenure.

The new Executive Council Members include, Comrade Archibong Bassey (NTA) as the State Chairman, Comrade Sony Inah (CRBC) as the Vice Chairman, Comrade Mike Abang (BUSINESS DAY) as Secretary, Comrade Kingsley Agim (STATE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION) as Assistant Secretary, Comrade Achiana Adams (STATE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION) as Treasurer, and Comrade Benedine Anam (FRCN) as Auditor.

Comrade Bassey, who made history as the first female Chairman of the Council during her first term, was re-elected unopposed alongside the five other executive council members to serve another three-year term.

The new State Chairman of the Council, during her acceptance speech, thanked Council members for their advice, support and belief in her administration.

She pledged to build on the achievements of her first term, and also urged members to support her leadership and contribute ideas that would help move the Council forward.
