The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has assured that his administration will not relent in its support for the NYSC scheme which has contributed to the growth and development of the State and nation at large.


Vice Admiral Ibas stated this at the swearing in ceremony of 2025 Batch B Stream One Corps members deployed to Rivers State at the NYSC camp in Nonwa-Gbam Tai.


The Administrator who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman NYSC Governing Board, Professor Ibibia Worika assured the Corps Members of his administration’s commitment to their security and welfare and that general renovation of hostels will be imminently carried out by his government at the camp.

Ibas urged Corps Members to “advocate moral and ethical values” in all their activities, particularly now that they have officially been inducted and sworn in as members of the NYSC.

Earlier, the State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe enjoined the Corps Members to see themselves as the custodians of the hopes of Nigerians in building a nation of peace and economic prosperity.


Furthermore, Mr. Oleghe charged the Corps Members to change their mindset from negative perception of the country and become “agents of positive change, builders of bridges of national unity and integration as well as torchbearers of a brighter future.”

The administration of the oath of allegiance was carried out by Justice Weli Amadi Chechey, who represented the Chief Judge of Rivers State.

A total of 2002 Corps Members were sworn in at the occasion while some of them who spoke with our correspondent described their few days experience in camp as tough but worthwhile.
