The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has urged the Akwa Ibom State Government to give approval for the confirmation of the appointment of the Actg. Resgistrar, Godswill Essien Udofah to enable him have legal right to sign students’ certificates.

This was contained in the recommendations of the report of the Committee on Education presented by its Chairman, the member representing Oron/Udung Uko State Constituency Mrs Kenim Onofiok at the floor of the House during plenary .

The report prayed that “since Education is part of ARISE agenda of this administration, the State Governor should give approval for employment in Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic in order to increase productivity.

Also, since security is paramount in ARISE agenda, the State Government through its relevant MDAs should construct lasting perimeters fencing to checkmate criminal activities in the school.

After the report was duly considered in the Committee of the Whole , the recommendations adopted captured that “In view of the recorded achievements, the State Government should encourage this great Institution by way of increasing the funding to carter for its pressing needs.

“That the State Government should as a matter of urgency give approval for the conduct of convocation as this will encourage students.”

Meanwhile, The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has urged its Committee on Works to liaise with the State Commissioner for Works and Fire Service for deliberations on the abandoned 17.4 KM Odoro Ikpe, Ibam Edet, Mbiabet Ikpe – Mbiabet Ikot Udo Road project in the Ini local government area.

The resolution followed a motion on the abandoned road project presented by the member representing Ini State Constituency, Mr. Lawrence Udoide .

Mr Udoide, who urged the Assembly to call on the Akwa Ibom State Government to address the neglected road,, observed that the contract was awarded by former Governor Udom Emmanuel to Ashdene Group Plc on September 22, 2016.

Following the discussion at the floor of the house, the Speaker Elder Udeme Otong announced the resolution and instructed the Clerk, Mrs. Nsikak-Abasi Orok, to relay the Assembly’s decision to the Governor , Pastor Umo Eno for action.
