The passenger who assaulted airline officials aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, Comfort Emmanson, has reportedly been charged in court.
The Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Tunde Moshood, confirmed that Emmanson has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility.
He disclosed this in a post on X, shortly after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, announced plans to increase enforcement actions at airports, citing a rise in incidents involving unruly passengers.
The NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mike Achimugu, stated in a release today that all air safety regulations must be strictly adhered to.
Earlier, Ibom Air announced that the female passenger would no longer be permitted to board any of its flights, noting that her behaviour posed a serious threat to the safety of crew members, passengers, and the aircraft.
