As part of broader measures to ensure successful hosting of the 9th edition of the National Youth Games this month , Delta State Sports Commission has announced the setting up of an 8-man Local Organizing Committee (LOC) .
A statement by Mrs Franca Okonma, the director of Information and Public Relations, says the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori, will serve as LOC Chairman, with former Commissioner for Sports, Chief Solomon Ogba, appointed as Adviser. Former Super Eagles defender and current board member of the Sports Commission, Mr. Sam Sodje, is also on the team, alongside fellow board members Mr. Oghale Ofremu and Miss Henrietta Ehiabor.
Other appointees include the immediate past Director General of the Sports Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero, and Mr. Paul Omamomo-Ojo as members, while the functional Director General of the Sports Commission, Emuobo Igalase, will serve as Secretary.
According to the statement,the 9th National Youth Games, will officially commence in Asaba on August 26 with the arrival of contingents from across the country.
”Delta Sports Commission reaffirms its commitment to staging an event that will showcase Delta’s proven capacity for sports excellence and its leadership in grassroots talent development”, the statement adds.
