
Experts say with the right information and support women and girls can navigate through the mints and misconceptions around Menstruation.
Guests on sixty- minute live the Radio Nigeria, Atlantic FM program , made this known while speaking on the topic which focuses on menstrual health and hygiene in young girls .
One of the guest, a PSI Champion and a Reproductive Health Nurse, Mr Akwaowo Akpan who noted that Menstruation is a core natural process that women go through, added that if they don’t get the right hygiene it can affects their growth.
The PSI Champion said girls needs to be given the right knowledge to understand what to do when this natural process takes place.
While highlighting the role of men towards ensuring that women get the necessary help to stay healthy, Mr Akwaowo called on stakeholders to donate as well as also make sanitary pads affordable especially in rural communities.
‘ if the right knowledge is there no boy or man will laugh at a girl when she gets stain during Menstruation , lets also show the support for women to know that their periods are natural ‘
He added that there are reusable pads that are available which can last longer for the ladies.
Mr Akwaowo who emphasised that woman should track their periods also said parents should check their girls adding that the moment a young girl start having breast after some time the Menstruation will start..
Also speaking, another PSI Champion and a certified Teacher with many years of experience in Teenage grooming Mfon Ezekiel Akanimoh, Mrs Mfon urged women and girls to take their bath trice or four times a day as well as wash their hands regularly during Menstruation for proper hygiene.
The experienced teenage expert said hot bath and worm water can handle menstrual cramps.
The PSI duo said no woman or girl should be stigmatized during Menstruation, instead they should be assisted so they can be healthy and observe the necessary hygiene during the period.
