The New Yenagoa City in Bayelsa State is taking form with more infrastructure springing up.

With major dual carriage ways at the Government Reserved Area almost done, housing projects such as legislative and commissioners’ quarters completed, attention is shifting to internal roads to link other parts of the State capital.

Our Correspondent who was part of a tour embarked on by the Federated Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bayelsa State council reports that the area is a beehive of new projects.

The New Yenagoa City located across the Epie Creek from Onopa in the Bayelsa State capital is a construction yard with several projects executed by the State government ongoing.

With new roads in phase one completed alongside housing schemes for State Lawmakers and Commissioners, construction works have reached advanced stage in phase two with dual carriage ways being undertaken.

At one of the sites , work is being intensified on Road One Extension to connect the New Yenagoa City GRA to the Liquefied Natural Gas base off the Tombia-Amassoma road to link the Bayelsa Airport near Amassoma in Southern Ijaw.

Project Manager of the contracting firm, Lubrik Construction Company, Engineer Saiid Haykal says work on the project which has reached 65 per cent is expected to be completed by February next year.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Moses Teibowei says the Governor Douye Diri led Administration is determined to complete all ongoing projects in the New Yenagoa City to give the State capital the befitting status it deserves.

Mr. Teibowei said apart from the road, other amenities such as power and water projects would be put in place in the New Yenagoa City to make it habitable for the people.
