The Rivers House of Assembly has initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Oduh.

The action came after a plenary session today led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.

During the plenary presided by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, the Majority Leader, Major Jack, read out the notice of allegations and gross misconduct against Governor Fubara.

Speaker, Amaewhule said the notice signed by twenty six members of the Rivers State House of Assembly will be served to Governor Fubara in the next seven days.

The Deputy Majority Leader, Linda Stewart, announced a separate notice of accusations and serious misconduct against Deputy Governor Oduh, signifying the official initiation of the impeachment process against her too.
