Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, will soon commence compensation payment for residents of Ibifaka Polo community in Borikiri, Port Harcourt Town axis of Borokiri-Okrika Road with three bridges.

Execute Director Finance and Administration NDDC, Alabo Boma Iyayi who made this known while addressing residents during inspection of the project, admitted that constant leadership changes at the commission affected the pace of work.

Alabo Iyaye explained that work was already ongoing from Okrika axis, insisting that there was need to commence work from Borokiri side of the project.

“Why is nothing going on from the Borokiri end.That is why we are here, we have gone through the alignment with the contractor and consultants and they have told us the issue, which is nothing other than compensation.

I have asked the Director in charge of this project, he said the estate valuer has submitted bills for compensation.

So, immediately I get to the office, we will look for the file and treat it, so that in due time, you will start receiving your payments for work to start in Ernest.”

In their responses, two residents of the locality, Mr. Precious George and Mrs. Margaret Wakama expressed joy over the project and applauded NDDC for the gesture.

Borikiri-Okrika Bridge, would link Port Harcourt Town in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, PHALGA, and Okrika Local Government Area, Rivers State, Crossing different settlements, with three bridges- the Kolabi Bridge measuring one hundred and eighty meters, at the Etche Waterfront, Abotoru Bridge with a dimension of one thousand, one hundred and twenty metres midway and the Okpoka Bridge, with a length of four hundred and ninety meters.
