
Police in Delta say they are intensifying efforts to secure the release of the abducted chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State.
The council chairman ,Bright Abeke,
was said to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at the Debro Fred Guest House.
Commissioner of Police , Delta State Command, Yemi Oyeniyi stated this in Sapele when he led an on-the-spot assessment to strengthen the search and rescue police team..
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, during the visit, the Police Commissione visited the Debro Fred Guest House,and also the Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle reportedly used by the abductors was recovered,.
‘The visit formed part of a coordinated response to the incident, with the CP personally assessing critical locations connected to the crime.,
”He inspected Debro Fred Guest House, where the abduction occurred, to obtain first-hand situational clarity. He also visited Ogorode Waterside, where the vehicle reportedly used in the operation was recovered, providing further direction for intelligence exploitation and forensic follow-up”
CP Oyeniyi said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, was working with credible intelligence to track down the perpetrators and rescue the victim.
He urged residents of Sapele and across Delta State to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and useful information, stressing that public cooperation is crucial to the success of the operation.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police visited the wife of the abducted chairman, assuring the family of the command’s commitment to ensure his rescue
He also visited victims injured during the attack who are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
