Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, has commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as impactful yet underreported achievements, urging members of the City Boy Movement to intensify efforts in publicising the administration’s initiatives.
Speaking at the inauguration of the executives of the Delta State Chapter of the City Boy Movement in Asaba, Guwor noted that while the President is implementing significant reforms, many Nigerians remain unaware of these strides due to misinformation and limited public awareness.
He encouraged members of the movement to consistently highlight key programmes such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), ongoing tax reforms, and the economic benefits of fuel subsidy removal.
Addressing concerns around tax reforms, the Speaker dismissed claims that the policies are designed to burden the poor, attributing such narratives to opposition propaganda.
He maintained that the reforms are structured to strengthen the economy and improve overall national development.
Guwor acknowledged the political relevance of the City Boy Movement, noting that many members of the Delta State House of Assembly are prospective candidates in upcoming party primaries and would benefit from the group’s grassroots mobilisation efforts.
“You are ambassadors of the good work being done by Mr President and the APC at all levels—from the presidency to the National Assembly and state legislatures,” he said.
Guwor reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the growth of the movement, particularly in Delta State, while expressing optimism about its expansion across the country.
He congratulated the Delta State chapter on its inauguration and commended the initiators for what he described as a visionary initiative that channels youthful energy into constructive political participation.
Highlighting the strategic importance of youth involvement, the Speaker noted that young people make up a significant portion of Nigeria’s voting population.
He added that sustained youth support for President Tinubu and the APC would be crucial to electoral success in the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, the Delta State Commissioner for Works( Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu highlighted the achievements of President Bola Tinubu since his assumption of office, urging stronger support for his administration.
Highlights of the event which was graced by thousands of youths, was the inauguration of the executives of the Delta State Chapter of the City Boy Movement by the Director General of the movement, Hon Francis Oluwatosin Shoga.
Meanwhile, the City Boy Movement top leadership had on arrival paid an advocacy visit to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House Asaba.
Oborevwori urged members of the movement to sustain the momentum in promoting leadership and national development.
He praised their consistency and visibility, noting that their activities have been evident both within Delta State and nationwide.
Oborevwori also lauded the movement’s strong backing of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a committed democrat. He urged members to sustain their mobilisation efforts and continue engaging young people in governance and national development.
Emphasising youth participation, the governor said the involvement of young Nigerians—including members of his own family—reflects increasing confidence in leadership and reform-driven governance. He stressed that youths are not just future leaders but active contributors to present-day policymaking.
“Your ideas, energy, and sense of purpose are critical to building inclusive and forward-looking policies. You have shown remarkable strength in mobilisation and advocacy, and we are open to working with you,” he said.
The governor further acknowledged the dedication of the movement’s national and state patrons, noting that mobilising young people in today’s environment requires strategic effort and resilience. He encouraged members to stay focused despite challenges and criticisms.
Earlier, the National Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Shoga, described the visit as a demonstration of unity, purpose, and determination among Nigerian youths to take charge of their future.
Shoga commended the governor’s leadership, especially his efforts in improving livelihoods and creating opportunities in Delta State, emphasizing that the City Boy Movement is a structured youth platform focused on empowerment, leadership development, and active civic participation.
“The future of Nigeria lies in the hands of its young people. This movement is built on the belief that youths must be active participants, not mere observers, in shaping the nation’s destiny,” he said.
He revealed that the movement has expanded significantly, with structures in over 30 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, and a presence in more than 100 countries.
According to him, the group remains committed to mobilising millions of young voters in support of President Tinubu and the APC, while promoting unity, discipline, and constructive engagement among youths.
