…Urges stakeholders to invest in books, innovation and the future of the state’s children

As nations race to dominate the knowledge-driven economy, the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has declared that investing in science and technology education is no longer optional but essential for preparing children to become the innovators, inventors and problem-solvers of tomorrow.

Speaking through the Wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Inemesit Uwah, at the public launch of the Intermediate Science and Technology for Primary Schools Books 1–6, Lady Obareki called on governments, corporate organisations, philanthropists and education stakeholders to place science learning at the centre of efforts to secure the future of the next generation.

She described the dedication of the textbook series to her as both a personal honour and a strong endorsement of Akwa Ibom State’s growing commitment to educational excellence.

According to her, the future belongs to societies that equip their children with scientific knowledge, technological skills and innovative thinking from an early age.

She praised the six-volume publication for making science and technology easy, engaging and accessible to young learners, noting that the books complement the educational vision of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

Lady Obareki also highlighted the impact of GIFA’s educational programmes, revealing that over 20,000 beneficiaries have been reached through literacy initiatives, school support programmes and adult education interventions.

Calling for collective action, she urged stakeholders to support the distribution of the books across public schools, describing every investment in education as an investment in Akwa Ibom’s future workforce and economic prosperity.

The event featured the formal unveiling of the textbook series, goodwill messages from stakeholders and a colourful cultural performance by the Word of Faith Schools Cultural Troupe, underscoring a shared commitment to empowering young minds through quality education.
