President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for his Christ-centred, inclusive, and unifying leadership style, describing it as a driving force behind the prevailing peace and cohesion in the state.
Speaking during an Easter visit to the Governor at his country home in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Senator Akpabio praised Governor Eno’s humility and commitment to fostering unity and sustainable development across Akwa Ibom.

He noted that the Governor’s leadership has been defined by inclusiveness and a clear sense of purpose, which he said has significantly strengthened harmony among the people.
According to the Senate President, the visit, though seemingly spontaneous, underscores the importance of solidarity and regular engagement among leaders.
“This visit may appear a surprise, but it is something I should do more often—coming to identify with my Governor, a leader who loves his people, does not discriminate, and has demonstrated purposeful leadership,” Akpabio stated.
He further expressed satisfaction with the atmosphere of unity in the state and stressed the need for sustained collaboration between federal and state leadership to consolidate development gains.
Reflecting on the significance of Easter, Akpabio said the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolises victory over adversity, expressing optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current socio-economic and security challenges.
He also disclosed that he had earlier represented the Governor at the Apostolic Church convention in Ikot Ekpene and Ikono, conveying Eno’s goodwill message to the congregation, who in turn offered prayers for the Governor’s continued success and good health.
Responding, Governor Eno described the visit as thoughtful and deeply symbolic, especially during the Easter season, noting that it reflects the core values of love, sacrifice, and unity.
He observed that while he had previously visited the Senate President on several occasions, the reciprocal gesture was both uncommon and commendable.
“In some states, leaders at the federal and state levels hardly interact, but here in Akwa Ibom, we come together to foster unity and mutual respect,” the Governor said.
Governor Eno, who referred to Akpabio as a political father figure, expressed gratitude for his continued guidance and support, assuring him of sustained cooperation in advancing the state’s development agenda.
