Delta State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborewhori has extolled the examplary lifestyle of the Catholic Bishop of Bomadi Diocese, Most Reverend Hyacinth Egbebo,
The Governor represented at the occasion by the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Solomon Funkekeme reeled out the encomium during the 70th birthday celebration of the Catholic Bishop.
While expressing gratitude to God for the gift of Bishop Egbebo to Delta and Nigeria at large, Governor Oborevwori described the Bishop as a rare builder,a developer, a light bearer, patriot and a crusader of academic excellence as obviously seen in the establishment of mission schools and the building of the ICT centre for Jamb students to ease the traffic of students traveling far to sit for the Jamb examination.
While felicitating with the catholic bishop, the Delta State Governor restated commitment of his administration to ensuring that the road linking Ojobo initially initiated and abandoned by the Niger Delta Ministry would be completed by his government and also the Bomadi Gbaregolor road would be executed since both have been duly captured in the budget and awarded.
He appealed to the celebrant to continue to be a beacon of hope and sustain the message of peace to his congregants and the wider society.
Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Renewal Energy, Barr. Newworld Safugha who described Bishop Egbebo as a voice to the voiceless, said he was worthy of celebration.
He prayed to God to grant the Bishop many more useful years and for divine guidance, while thanking everyone who came out of their busy schedules to honour the Bishop at 70 years.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community Development , Dr. Davids Akpobolokeami has urged christians to uphold their revered Apostolic calling by influencing positive and impactful decisions that promote peace, unity, and development in Delta State and Nigeria at large
Dr Akpobolokeami described Bishop Egbebo as a true servant of God whose life and ministry exemplify integrity, courage, and a passion for social justice and moral uprightness.
He noted that politics and religion are interrelated and both play vital roles in promoting and strengthening democracy, peace, and good governance.
According to him, the synergy between faith and leadership helps to ensure peaceful coexistence among diverse ethnic groups, uphold moral standards, and foster societal development.
He further lauded the Bishop’s contributions to education, moral upbringing, respect for authority, and the promotion of godly values and virtues, describing these as marks of true leadership and faith
.While congratulating Bishop Egbebo on his milestone birthday, Dr. Akpobolokeami prayed for continued wisdom, divine blessings, and guidance upon his life.
He also urged Nigerians to emulate the Bishop’s virtues of humility, discipline, and service to humanity, emphasizing that the Church, its leaders, and followers remain critical to the moral and socio-economic transformation of society.
