The Delta State Government has called on qualified and eligible youths in the state to apply for the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS), Batch 39.
The appeal was contained in a statement by the Director-General, Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq, who said the state government, through the State Committee on Awareness Creation for Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, was committed to creating awareness about opportunities for young people to enlist in the nation’s military and paramilitary services.
Oghenesivbe said the online application for the NNBTS Batch 39 recruitment exercise commenced on October 2, 2026, and would close on October 31, 2026.
He urged qualified applicants to visit the official Nigerian Navy recruitment portal, https://www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, to complete their applications, upload the required credentials and print the relevant forms for the screening exercise.
According to him, the training specialisations include Marine and Mechanical Engineering, Weapon Electrical Systems, Communications and ICT, Seaman and Survey, and Medical Service.
He explained that applicants with SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB qualifications must be between 18 and 22 years of age by December 31, 2026, while applicants with NCE, OND, Registered Nurse/Midwife qualifications, Drivers/Mechanics and Sportsmen/Sportswomen qualifications must be between 18 and 26 years by the same date.
The Director-General added that applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a National Identification Number (NIN), be single, and be medically, physically and psychologically fit.
He said applicants must also meet the prescribed minimum height of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females, while persons with physical disabilities or tattoos would not be eligible to apply.
Oghenesivbe further stated that applicants must have no previous criminal conviction by a court of law, adding that academic certificates, including WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and GCE, must not be more than six years old from the date of application.
He disclosed that the recruitment examination would hold on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at designated centres nationwide.
The Director-General advised applicants to provide accurate information and submit genuine credentials, warning that the presentation or uploading of false information or forged documents would lead to disqualification and possible prosecution.
He said the recruitment exercise was in line with the job and wealth creation policy of the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Oghenesivbe therefore urged qualified youths of Delta State origin to take advantage of the opportunity by applying through the official Nigerian Navy recruitment portal.
